Jim Rosborg Dr. Jim Rosborg currently serves as Program Coordinator for External Graduate Programs at McKendree College, Lebanon, Illinois. He also is instructor of graduate courses in education. In addition, Rosborg is a frequent speaker on topics such as data management, NCLB, school law, and Bridging the Academic Gap. This is his 35th year in education, having retired from Belleville, Illinois District #118 after serving as a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent prior to his current position. He received his doctorate from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1994. Dr. Rosborg has received numerous awards including the Illinois Master Teacher award, the Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel award, the Illinois State Board of Education Break the Mold award, the Boy Scouts of America Russell C. Hill award for outstanding contribution to character development, and the 2004 Illinois Superintendent of the Year award. Besides his recent collaboration with Max McGee and Jim Burgett in writing the books What Every Superintendent and Principal Needs to Know and The Perfect School, Rosborg has published articles about dealing with children with AIDs in the classroom and adjustments needed to successfully implement the 2002 No Child Left Behind Act.Jim Rosborg is a proud husband, father, and grandparent having been married to Nancy for 31 years. Together, they have three children: Mike (married to Wendy, with grandson Bradley), Kyle (married to Barbi), and Carol. Max McGee Glenn W. Max McGee has held positions in public schools from substitute teacher in Lebanon, New Hampshire, to State Superintendent of Education in Springfield, Illinois. He has taught middle school; coached high school; served as an elementary principal, and been superintendent of three high-achieving school districts. In addition, he is a past President of the Illinois Teachers Retirement System. He is currently Superintendent of Schools in Wilmette District 39 in Wilmette, Illinois, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Northern Illinois University Center for Governmental Studies. Max is presently an active member of the Board of Directors of the Great Books Foundation, the Golden Apple Board Foundation, and the United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago.A graduate of Dartmouth College and holder of a Ph. D. from the University of Chicago, Max has devoted his studies and career to improving teaching and learning for all students. Max has presented at the national conferences of the American Education Research Association, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and National Association for the Education of Young Children, in addition to other national and statewide conferences and events. He has written articles and papers about computer technology, assessment, and educational leadership. He is currently working on publishing a scholarly, comprehensive study of high-performing, high-achieving schools in Illinois called Closing the Achievement Gap: Lessons from the Golden Spike Schools and completing development of a product and process that enables school leaders to benchmark their performance with similar districts.Max s wife, Jan Fitzsimmons, runs the College Readiness Program for the Associated Colleges of Illinois and directs the Junior/Seniors Scholars youth. Their oldest boy, Mike, is employed as a technician, and the youngest, Joey, attends Barrington Middle School. They also care for Jessica, a very special young woman who is a junior at Northern Illinois. In addition to running one of the top school districts in Illinois, Max runs in marathons and is a competitive triathlete, finishing second in his age group in the 2002 Lake Geneva Extreme Triathlon. Jim Burgett Jim Burgett is a veteran educator and public speaker. Jim was named the Illinois Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School Administrators and "Administrator of the Year" by the Illinois Association for Educational Office Professionals. He has received numerous honors and recognition for his leadership and skills as a motivator. Jim serves on many boards for the State of Illinois, various professional organizations, the Editorial Board for an educational publisher, and several community organizations.He is the recipient of the Award of Excellence from the Illinois State Board of Education, was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International, and is currently President of his local Chamber of Commerce.After earning a B.S. degree in education, with a minor in chemistry, at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Jim earned his M.S. and C.A.S. degrees at Northern Illinois University. Jim has continued his educational training and currently writes and presents administrative academies for several states.Education has been the cornerstone of his career. Jim has been a teacher of grades five through twelve and a principal of elementary, middle school, and high school. He has served as the Superintendent of the Elizabeth Community Unit School District, the River Ridge Community Unit School District, and the Highland Community Unit School District, all in Illinois. He is frequently published by many professional journals, speaks across the country to a variety of organizations, and has keynoted at most major educational conferences in Illinois. Jim Burgett is known for his practical leadership. He consults many districts, leads strategic planning sessions, and has been a leader in such areas as school construction, administrative standards, and effective teaching strategies.Jim Burgett's wife, Barbara, is a medical records specialist for a senior citizen service complex in Highland. Jim and Barb have three children and five grandchildren.
