Condizione: Gut. 47 S. Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - Neither a painter nor sculptor, per se, Duchamp was a kind of jack-of-all-trades and agent provocateur, of sorts. Having created his legendary Cubist/Futurist painting Nude Descend-ing a Staircase in 1912, which became the succes de scandale at the 1913 Armory show in New York, Duchamp abandoned painting. "I could have produced ten other nudes, without doubt," Duchamp remarked, "if I had wished to at that time. The fact of the matter is that I decided not to. I undertook immediately to work out another formula . It was impossible for me to apply myself to splashing paint at random from brushstrokes on a canvas. I wanted to return to a kind of an art that was dry . Duchamp's complex Output includes paintings, drawings, notes, machines, movies, Ready-mades, and elaborate room-sized constructions. He insisted that art should be at the ser-vice of the mind, as opposed to a particular skill or material, and he brought to his art an interest in traditionally non-art subject matter, such as linguistics, mathematics and game theory. At one point, the artist replaced his art making with chess playing. ISBN 0916758133 Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 550 Mit zahlr. auch farb. Abb. Originalbroschur. Codice articolo 1050716
