With their elaborate cartouches, fabulous sea animals and charming footsteps marking the people of Israel's wanderings in the desert, the maps clearly do not correspond with the natural landscape; they are filled with human intention. Some maps speak not of landscape, but of the desires and intentions of mapmakers and their audiences. It is toward these emotions that Imaginary Coordinates turns.
