The contests are designed to interest and challenge students in grades 4, 5, and 6. The questions range in difficulty from straightforward (the first page of each contest) through moderate (the second page of each contest) to challenging (the last page of each contest). Complete solutions, with detailed explanations, are included. There are is also a Rate Yourself Chart for each contest. Students can check their results and see how they compare to other students across North America.

Steven R. Conrad and Daniel Flegler were both honored by President Reagan in 1985 as recipients of Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. Mr. Flegler was the 1977 recipient of Princeton University's award for Distinguished Secondary School Teaching. For 6 years, Mr. Conrad was the Problem Section editor for the Mathematics Student Journal.Adam Raichel is the founder of Aardvark Prep, a Chicago-based company that specializes in standardized test preparation. Mr. Raichel, who participated in Math League contests as a student, graduated from high school at the age of 14, from Princeton University at the age of 18, and from Harvard Law School at the age of 21.
