Paperback. Condizione: Good. 325 pages. cover worn, bumped, name ffep, This is not just another book on research methods. It is unique in including information systems research, usually ignored in books on research in librarians hip and information management. In some respects this is a traditional research methods textbook but the examples and cases included are drawn from the discipli nes of the title, including archives and records. Both quantitative and qualitat ive methods are covered. The main author, Kirsty Williamson, has put together a team of excellent contributors, mostly academic staff in the School of Informati on Management & Systems at Monash University, drawing on their varied experi ence of research and research supervision. This book is an introduction to resea rch methods, put firmly in the context of professional practice in information m anagement and systems. It is designed primarily for use in research methods subj ects in the university schools of librarianship/ information management/ informa tion studies/ information systems in Australasia and elsewhere, but should also be of interest to relevant practitioners who have an interest in research. Most chapters are suitable for undergraduates or postgraduates. The level is introduc tory, making this an accessible text for those who have little or no background in research methods.Australian schools of library and information studies , archives, records management and information systems - all of whose students w ill benefit from this text which recognises the convergence of these professio ns and includes many examples is certainly timely. The strengths of this work include its coverage of a very wide range of methods, clear and straightforward explanations of often quite complex issues, and simple, useful diagrams this.
