The contributors are a veritable "who's who" of numismatics, making for a highly credible and authoritative work. The voluminous amount of material touches on virtually every aspect of silver dollars, with a strong focus on the Morgan dollar, the most popular collector and investment coin. The crowning strength of the book is its concluding 250-page date-by-date analysis of the Morgan and Peace dollar series. Despite the unevenness created by the variety in writing style and content, this book can be used by novices and coin dealers alike. It has very good reference potential, although getting through the massive amount of text almost requires a circulating copy. An annual supplement is planned, updating areas such as changing coin values and coin populations.
