Holly Payne was struck by a drunk driver in 1994 and left unable to walk for nearly a year. The driver asked for her forgiveness, but rather than respond with a letter, she wrote him this book with the hope that he could forgive himself someday. Payne is the author of The Sound of Blue, and The Virgin's Knot, a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writer's selection and Border's Original Voices book. She is the founder of Skywriter Series coaching, workshops and retreats and serves on the faculty of the MFA writing program at California College of the Arts. Kingdom of Simplicity is the winner of a Marin Arts Council Grant for fiction.
