This book provides a comprehensive historians or travellers guide to the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes Offensive) Americas largest battle of the Second World War. As a visitors guide the book presents the actual locations of key events in the struggle to defeat Germanys last offensive of the war. Each battlefield visit begins with a succinct history of events followed by a description of the intense military action that determined success or failure. The narrative revolves around the stories of the privates, NCOs, and junior officers whose sacrifices made success possible. Extensive detailed maps illustrate the flow of the battle across the landscape and the units that participated. Detailed driving instructions and 550 GPS co-ordinates direct visitors to each battlefield site. Descriptions of museums, memorials, cemeteries, and surviving artefacts are given along with their hours of operation. Mailing, email, and web addresses are also provided.

Informazioni sull?autore
Robert J Mueller caught the battlefield bug when, as a child, he visited Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. During his long career as an executive with a major international corporation, Robert Mueller developed a love of travel and an enthusiasm for visiting historic locations. Retirement brought him the opportunity to visit and study the battlefields of Europe. He has written six visitor guides to the battlefields of Northern Europe and Hawaii under the Fields of War imprint. The titles have garnered eleven national book awards including being twice honoured by the Military Writers Society of America. His descriptive format brings the history, significance, and people of the battlefield to life. He holds advanced degrees in physics and business administration.
