Sinossi

It was an unusual Eleven Day morning... “What was it that appeared after midnight on an Eleven-Day morning, landing without a sound onto the soft desert sand outside the sleepy village? And what made Toby awaken and look out of his window on that starlit night? No one in the village ever wakes up before 11:00am on an Eleven Day. No one!" Follow the adventures of Toby, Ben and Rosie as they sneak quietly into the night and encounter a golden wonder. Wrestle with the frightening Wild Winds, slip down a glassy slide, hide under a magic umbrella, help a dragon undo his sister’s mistake, and dive deep below the ocean waters to meet an old, old friend. Will the villagers discover that the children have broken the Eleven-Day rule? Or will someone, or some Thing, help the young adventurers to make it back home before the Eleven-Day bells chime? If you love magical mystery and marvelous adventure you are sure to love GoldDust, Dragon of Merak. It is truly a wonderful fantasy novel written by Alicja Zajac-Merifield, a substitute teacher who developed the story by telling it to her grade 1 through 6 students over a two year period. With much encouragement and positive feedback, this book is now available for all to read, to enjoy and to get lost in the magical mystery of a beloved dragon named GoldDust and his new friends.

Informazioni sull?autore

Alicja Zajac-Merifield is a mother, grandmother, semi-retired teacher and Reiki practitioner. She has taught in various Elementary and Secondary schools in Montreal, London, Toronto, Madoc, Trenton, Batawa and Belleville and continues to substitue teach within the Quinte area of Ontario, Canada. A writer for over 25 years, Alicja has recently begun publishing some of her most cherished work. In her youth, the small town of Larder Lake in Northern Ontario was where her family called home. At the age of 16 they moved to London Ontario where Alicja attended London Teacher’s College. While raising her family, she received her BA in Fine Arts through Atkinson College’s evening and summer credit courses at York University in Toronto. Passionate about the arts and creative thought, she specialized in teaching English, Dramatic Arts and Visual Arts. Countless students were inspired by her creativity and compassionate mentorship. Alicja also became a member of the Toronto Metropolitan Separate School Board teachers’ musical theatre productions, participating in plays such as Fiddler on the Roof, the Music Man and Hello Dolly. She worked backstage for Theatre Five in Toronto and The Pinnacle Playhouse in Belleville. If you ask Alicja what inspires her creativity, she will tell you about her love of nature in all forms such as the silent beauty of the woods, the majesty of mountains, serenity of lakes and seas, and a crisp, starlit night sky. She is fascinated by unusual cloud formations and loves listening to the chirping of crickets and birds, the call of coyotes and wolves, the crash of thunder, and autumn rain on a tin roof. You may often find her strolling with binoculars through Jobe’s Woods in Brighton, sitting by the shores of Lake Ontario in Presqu’ile Park with notebook and pen, or writing her next book on her laptop in a small café in Belleville. Alicja is currently living in the Quinte area with her chocolate lab, Maggie, and working on the next two novels in the GoldDust series.
