Author Joseph McCray has given the title “Valuable” to his inspirational book on overcoming drug addiction. He passionately believes that each addict’s (substance user) has value, and encourages each one to take action to overcome their addiction. Joseph McCray is a registered nurse who has specialized in the treatment of drug and alcohol addiction for twenty - two years. He is currently a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse at a prestigious hospital in Baltimore City. He speaks frequently on addiction and its treatment at community centers and other meeting places in the Baltimore area. Born in Baltimore and growing up in East Baltimore in the 1970s, Joseph McCray is no stranger to life on inner city streets. In his book he includes several personal encounters with drugs from his youth. The book has an introductory chapter on addiction, with subsequent chapters addressing three of the most devastating drugs in our country today: heroin, cocaine and alcohol. The book is loaded with facts about addictive drugs and includes specific information on approved treatments for each. The book will be of tremendous value to addiction counselors, and to others grappling with the management and treatment of addicted persons.
