I first met Colin at Midsummer House when he came with his chef to eat. He had an infectious personality with eyes wide open he was taking in all of Midsummer House with a true passion for the industry. It wasn t until we cooked together on Great British Menu that I met the true Colin; gentle and calm; I was slightly unnerved that someone could be so cool in such an intense environment. That year we both got through to the final of Great British Menu and Colin became a true legend in my eyes but also a close personal friend. About Colin McGurran: Before finding his home at Winteringham Fields in 2005 Colin s career took him around the world. He attended a catering college in Bournemouth where he first found his passion for sourcing locally, Colin s career has gone from strength to strength. He s a regular face on the television circuit, including his stellar achievements on the Great British Menu in both 2012 and 2014. Most notably in his career were the two years he spent working as a banqueting manager for the United Arab Emirates Royal Family and a spell at the two-Michelin starred Domaines Haut de Loire in France. After so many years abroad Colin felt the call of home and returned to the UK. Colin and his wife Bex have three daughters, one of whom was born just a few days after taking over Winteringham Fields. Earlier this year, Colin opened the Hope & Anchor in North Lincolnshire with a strong focus on seasonal, local, delicious meals in a family-friendly, welcoming pub environment.
