An old battery factory in a residential neighborhood in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has received the EPA designation of "brownfield" and is finally slated for redevelopment. A greedy corporation is on the prowl and the people in the community fear the new construction may hinder the neighborhood more than help it. Many residents and community leaders are grappling with their own figurative brownfields as well, and these prevent them from working for the common good. What will it take for restoration of individuals and a community?

Raised in Ames, Iowa, Elizabeth Goudy received her M.Div. from the University of Chicago Divinity School. She was transplanted to Pennsylvania in 1999 to pastor Metropolitan Community Church of the Lehigh Valley. From 2008-2015 the church was located in north Allentown, the neighborhood that inspired Brownfields. She loves witnessing the redevelopment of abandoned factories (and people).
