David Youngman: Runaway Missionary tells the fictional story of David Youngman, a troubled Rhode Island college student. A chance visit to a rural church leads David into personal spiritual revival. Encouraged by a dear friend, David attends an informal student prayer meeting. There he senses the unmistakable call of God to bring the Gospel to Native Americans on the western frontier. A brutal raid on his parent's mission station years before left David orphaned and harboring a bitter hatred for all Native Americans. David struggles within his storm-tossed soul but cannot reconcile God's call with his personal hatred. Like Jonah, David decides to runaway. And like Jonah, finds that there is no fleeing God presence and purpose for his life. Captured and impressed into the British Navy, accidents and mishaps mount around David until he is thrown into the ship's brig. There David prays to God for forgiveness and deliverance from both his hatred and his confinement. The British release David and send him ashore, happy to be rid of him and God's judgement he has brought upon them. David determines now to go on and fulfill the call of God in his life to preach the Gospel to the Indians his parents once ministered among.

Randy Pilz is the father of five wonderful children and proud grandfather of three precious grandchildren. Born and raised in Chicagoland, Randy trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior through a community Bible study during his junior year in high school (the character Joe Anderson's testimony in his novel A Battle More Desperate is partly based on Randy's real testimony). After salvation, the Lord led him to Bob Jones University, where he studied Bible, Speech and Drama. Called to Christian service, Randy served as a Christian school teacher in two different schools. He later became drama director at Falls Baptist Church in Menomonee Falls, Wis. Through that ministry he began writing plays and programs as tools for local church evangelism (Some of his dramas are available through Performance Possibilities at performscripts.com). For eleven years, Randy served as a Creative Director/Video Producer on the staff at Pensacola Christian College, producing promotional and educational videos and assisting in the production of the Rejoice in the Lord telecast. He later worked as an independent producer in a non-profit media ministry. In the fall of 2016, Randy began his third “tour of duty” as a Christian school teacher, instructing Junior and Senior High Students at Mountain View Baptist School in the Birmingham, AL area.
