Pete Thorsen has seen Jimmy Ray Evans only once in thirty years so he's surprised when his former army buddy suddenly appears on his doorstep. Jimmy Ray insists on keeping a low profile, which is out of character for him, and does other odd things. A bar fight prompts Pete to ask a detective friend to check him out. The feedback stuns him.
