Sinossi

""A Comic Opera, In Three Acts, Entitled The False Prophet!"" is a humorous play written by John Armoy Knox in 1887. The story revolves around a false prophet named Zembla, who convinces the people of a small town to follow him and his teachings. However, his true intentions are revealed when he tries to marry the town's wealthy heiress for her money. Along the way, there are various comedic subplots involving other characters, including a bumbling sheriff and a love triangle between two young couples. The play is filled with witty dialogue, catchy songs, and comedic situations that poke fun at the idea of blind faith and the dangers of following charismatic leaders. Overall, ""The False Prophet!"" is a lighthearted and entertaining satire that offers a humorous take on a serious topic. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
