The volume is illustrated with 184 vignettes, some of them of a large size, of which the plates had been used in the earlier edition of Cats' separate works. Of these 53 belong to the ' Sinneen-Minne-beelder,' and 44 to the 'Emblemata Moralia;' and of the others nearly all also are of an emblematical character. vol. ii. title, portrait of Cats in his 77th year; engraved title to' 's Weerelt's Begin,' etc., 7 preliminary leaves, on the last of which is a vignette portrait of Anna Maria Schurman; a larger portrait, of the same person, pp. 608; and J. Cat's 'Gedachten op Slapeloose Nachten,' pp. 68. This volume has 136 vignettes and 3 folding plates; between pp. 270-1 there is also inserted a large coloured view of the bench and garden of Cats at Sorgoliet. 2 vols, folio 19.3 x 10.3,--red Tangier mor. t. e. g.
