The point r is given as 6 feet to the left of the line of direction. Hence on the ground line mark a point R 6 feet to the left of the perpendicular 20 through W, and measure RSj and RS2 each 4 feet. Join Si to Di; S2 to Da, and R to W. We have then the perspectives of three lines intersecting in the required point--the perspective B'. PROBLEM VI. Plate 12. Perspective of a Point not in the Ground Plane. The Line of Heights. Conditions.--To ascertain the perspective projection of a point situated above the ground plane; or of a vertical straight line. 30 Let CD be a vertical straight line, 4 feet high, 6 feet behind the picture plane, and 5 feet to the right of the spectator. Height of eye, 5 feet. Distance, 12 feet. Scale, 4 feet to 1 inch. Solution.--Draw the usual plan. (If C be given as a point 4 feet above the ground plane, drop a perpendicular to meet the ground plane in D). Join I to, cutting pp in c'2. d di Pass any. plane through CD (it will necessarily be 40 vertical) to cut the picture plane; and in this plane pass horizontal lines through C and D. They will appear in plan as a straight line, cuttingin the point-L. Draw the ground line and horizon as usual, and project up from y to GT, which will be 4 feet long, since GT is t in the picture plane (Rule I). Find the vanishing point Vi for the lines G'C and T'D' and join G' and T' to Vi, cutting the projector from in the points C and D'. Then CD' is the required perspective projection of the givQil vertical line; or considering the point C by itself as of a given height above the ground plane, we have found its projection C. A reference to Plate 12 will ma...
