In this wide, hard land, where existence is a struggle, men must at first spend all their time digging for gold if they are to gain what they came for. In the loft there is a floor made of rough lumber or logs covered with hay. On this floor logs are laid short distances apart and each "guest" is assigned a space between the logs.
