Hardback. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. has margin notes on a few pages, very nice clean book otherwise --- An English translation by Charles Gilbert Chaddock of the clinical textbook of psychiatry by Richard Krafft-Ebing, made from the last revision of the German original. The work is in two books. Book I covers the general pathology and treatment of the insanities, opening with chapters on physiologic and psychologic preliminaries, the importance of studying psychiatry, and a historical review of how psychiatry developed. Chaddock revised the material on underlying neural changes to bring it up to date. Book II turns to elementary psychic disturbances, including intellectual anomalies and disorders of impulse and the motor side of mental life, and then to the special pathology of the individual forms of insanity under the author's system of classification. It also treats imperative ideas, a concept Krafft-Ebing first defined in 1876. Throughout, the approach is clinical, built on case observation and detailed descriptions of patients and their symptoms. Codice articolo 260228-shelf-27-011
