Duane W. Roller is Professor Emeritus of Classics at Ohio State University. An historian and archaeologist, he is the author of ten books, most recently Cleopatra: A Biography (2010) and Eratosthenes' Geography (2010), and over 150 scholarly articles on topics in archaeology, ancient history, classical studies and musicology. He has also excavated in Greece, Italy, Turkey, Jordan and Israel.

The bottom outer edges of the pages have a small area of light stain and a small line of slightly darker stain (see pictures). The first page and the inside cover have small stains where the line of stain hits them (see pictures). The first page is stuck to the front cover near the top (you can still open the page, but not all the way). The spine tilts / curves a bit and has some creasing. The covers have some creasing and some light wear. Some pages have small bends / creases in the top and bottom corners. Some pages in the back of the book curl.
