Excerpt from The Story of Patsy
The original Story of Patsy was written and sold some seven years ago for the benefit of the Silver Street Free Kindergartens in San Francisco. Now that it is for the first time placed in the hands of publishers, I have at their request added new ma terial, so that the present story is more than double.

Life sends him many hardships, but the author, a kindergarten teacher, takes him under her wing and gives him a safe and loving place to spend his days. There, he learns patience, good manners and how to make new friends, though he never forgets where he came from or the difficulties his family faces. Written in the late 19th century, this book offers a rare glimpse into the lives of underprivileged children in San Francisco, raising awareness of the significant challenges they faced and the importance of providing support and kindness to those in need. The author's experiences demonstrate that even small acts of compassion can make a big difference in the lives of children.
