Excerpt from Selections From Berkeley: With an Introduction and Notes, for the Use of Students in the Universities
IN this Edition the Introduction to the Selections has been rewritten, and the relevant parts of the Supplementary Note merged in it; the three Prefatory Notes have been revised; a number of foot-notes have been added, and the others amended or withdrawn. The volume has been kept nearly within its original dimensions by the subtraction of portions of the author's text, in the Vindication and in Siris, that seemed unnecessary. It is hoped that these changes may make the work less unworthy of the indulgent reception it has already met with in this country and in America.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This intriguing book is a trove of historical philosophical ideas. It presents a distinctive viewpoint on the origins of our perception of the material world and the metaphysical nature of matter. These ideas were foundational to the history of Western philosophy and continue to provoke insightful debate. The author challenges commonly held assumptions surrounding the existence of matter, arguing that what we perceive as solid and extended objects are actually intangible phenomena dependent upon the consciousness of observing minds. This challenges the conventional understanding of the relationship between consciousness and the physical world. The text provides a philosophical framework to explore the nature of perception, the origin of our knowledge, and the very essence of reality.
