Excerpt from Problem of Health: How to Solve It
IN offering this work to the public, we make no other apology for its shortcomings, or lack of literary merit, than that it was written in the hurry of busi ness, and in constant practice of our profession.
It is not designed as a work of literary art, but rather to enlighten the people in all that pertains to their general well being; to instruct them in regard to the laws of life, that they may maintain good health; to educate their mental qualities, that they may be intellectually sound; to develop their moral natures, that they may become conversant with the higher duties of life in short, to do all in our power to solve the great problem of health, and promote human happiness. This, we believe, is of infinitely more importance to mankind than abstract theories, though presented in fine-drawn sentences or well rounded periods.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book merges medical and scientific knowledge with insights into the social and moral dimensions of health and wellness, arguing that health issues are part of a larger interconnected system of factors. The author sees the varied causes of disease as symptoms of a loss of harmony between our physical, intellectual, and moral natures. This book therefore aims to provide a holistic approach to healthcare, whereby we can begin to restore ourselves to health. The author, motivated by a desire to raise the standard of public health, believes that we must not look to outside sources to solve our health problems, but rather look within ourselves. He believes we have lost our natural instincts for maintaining our well-being, and that we must learn to live according to the laws of nature in order to restore ourselves to health.
