Excerpt from Lecture Notes Relating to a Systems Approach to Marketing
Passive elements may be described as characteristic of the channels through which elements of flow move in travelling between active elements. Passive elements affect the signals (elements of flow) moving in the channel with which they are associated. However, passive elements cannot originate signals or affect active elements directly. Three types of passive elements may be defined. These are: (i) time delays which affect the movement of elements of flow between active elements; (2) dissipators which reduce the magnitude of elements of flow as they are transmitted between active elements; and (3) storage elements which accumulate backlogs of elements of flow.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a systems approach to understanding marketing decision making. The author contends that in order to generate profitable sales, it's critical to analyze marketing environments, identify key elements and processes, and develop theoretical structures that describe and analyze interactions within the system. The book goes on to present qualitative and quantitative models encompassing sectors of the marketing system, demonstrating how these models can be applied to specific management problems. By examining the implications of applied models through the use of computerized simulations, the author provides operational solutions for evaluating accuracy. The book concludes by examining the relationship of research to decisions and the contribution research efforts can make by providing data that directly affects decision making. The author's insights into marketing will prove particularly valuable to marketing managers and business students.
