Sinossi

Excerpt from The Jews of to-Day

There is even a certain scientific interest about investigations into Jewish phenomena. Thus the question about the purity of the Jewish race, on which so much has been written of recent years, has a direct bearing on the opposition noticed by the late Sir Francis Galton, between the nature and the nurture of men. In other words, does birth or training deter mine human characteristics? The Jews throw light upon this subject whether they are a distinctive race or not. If they are, their common Characteristics shown in such different parts of the world is evidence of the influence of breed or nature. If they are not, the same characteristics prove the influence of nurture, education or environment. Jewish characteristics have even been made the subject of discussion in the struggle now going on between the Mendelians and the Biometricians. The former assert, the latter deny, that Jewish features are hereditable in mixed marriages, according to the Mendelian Law.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the complex phenomenon of Jewish assimilation, examining its historical roots and its ever -present force within the Jewish community. The author traces the ebb and flow of assimilation throughout Jewish history, highlighting key periods of cultural interaction, such as the Hellenistic and Arabic eras, which saw significant integration of Jews into dominant cultures. The author argues that assimilation has always been a powerful force within the Jewish Diaspora, shaped by economic and social factors, and ultimately impacting Jewish identity and cultural expression. The book explores the social dynamics that drive assimilation, noting how the interaction between Jewish and non-Jewish communities can lead to the adoption of new languages, customs, and beliefs. The book's insights offer a unique lens through which to understand the complex and evolving nature of Jewish identity, particularly within a globalized world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
