Atchley, i.s.o Librarian of the Colonial Oflice, who has given me constant help. Two recent and most valu able books have greatly facilitated the study of Canadian history since 1763, Viz Documents relating to the Constitutional History 0/ Canada, 139-91, selected and edited with notes by Messi-c Shortt and Doughty, and Canadian C onstitntionat Development, by Messrs.
