Sinossi

Excerpt from Elements of Geometry: Containing Books I, to Vi, and Portions of Books XI, and XII, of Euclid With Exercises and Notes

The work is based on the Greek text, as it is given in the Editions of August and Peyrard. To the suggestions of the late Professor De Morgan, published in the Companion to the British Almanack for 1849, I have paid constant deference.

A limited use of symbolic representation, wherein the symbols stand for words and not for operations, is generally regarded as desirable. And it is certain that the symbols employed in this book are admis sible in the Examinations at Oxford and Cambridge.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book, a groundbreaking work by a pioneering mathematician, revolutionized the field of geometry and laid the foundations for advancements in mathematics and science as we know it today. The author presents a comprehensive system of geometry based on simple and self-evident principles, using logical reasoning to derive complex theorems. By introducing the novel concept of proof, the author transformed geometry from a collection of empirical observations into a rigorous mathematical discipline. This work has profoundly influenced our understanding of space, shapes, and the relationship between them, becoming an essential pillar of mathematical education and a testament to the power of human reason.
