Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book studies the rise and development of the Spiritualist movement, focusing on the influence of scientists and their investigations. Beginning with the Rochester rappings in 1848, the book carefully traces the emergence of mediums and the growth of physical phenomena, such as spirit materializations and movements of objects. The author dissects the beliefs and motivations of Spiritualists, and how their acceptance of disembodied spirits operating in the physical world created a schism from mainstream scientific thought. The book also explores the mental phenomena associated with Spiritualism, including trance speaking, automatic writing, and visions, examining the genuine psychological experiences behind these practices. By presenting historical context and analyzing Spiritualism as a belief system, this book sheds light on the complex interplay between science, religion, and the human desire for connection with the unknown.
