October 14, 1899. Mr. Waterston was chosen a mem ber of the Historical Society on June 9, 1859. Ex tracts from his will relating to the bequest are printed in the Proceedings (second series, VIII. 172, 173) of the Society for April, 1893; and his Memoir, by our associate Josiah P. Quincy, is given in the same vol ume (pp. 292 The books were received at the Library early in November, 1899, soon after the death of his widow.
The catalogue of the Waterston Collection has been prepared by Mr. Julius Herbert Tuttle, Assistant Librarian of the Society, who has devoted much time and thought to it; and to him belongs the credit of the Work.
