The nature and extent of Charles Darwin's contributions to biological science have been so often and so fully described, and his influence on almost all departments of human thought has been so amply recognised, that for the present, little more may seem to remain to be said on the subject until, in the course of time, a fresh.

This book offers a comprehensive overview of Charles Darwin's significant geological work, from his early observations during the voyage of the Beagle, to his later research and theories. Exploring the development of Darwin's geological ideas alongside his biological theories, the book sheds light on the profound influence geology had on his understanding of evolution. By examining Darwin's studies of volcanic activity, coral reefs, continental elevation, and the role of earthworms in soil formation, the reader gains a deep appreciation for the breadth and depth of Darwin's scientific contributions.
