Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the Christian concept of sanctification using a series of lectures given before the University of Oxford. The author probes the nature of humanity's original holiness and the subsequent fall from grace. The author then examines the consequences of the fall, including the loss of dominion over creation, knowledge, and true love for God and neighbor. The book further explores the various responses to this fallen state, from idolatry and pagan philosophies to the formalism and asceticism found within Christianity itself. Ultimately, the author argues that the healing, or sanctification, of humanity's backsliding requires both a recognition of sin and an acceptance of God's grace and forgiveness. This challenging but deeply insightful work offers a comprehensive examination of a central Christian doctrine, providing valuable insights into humanity's relationship with God and the path to redemption.
