Excerpt from Teaching in the Home: A Handbook for Intensive Fertilization of the Child Mind for Instructors of Young Children
After a good deal of travail of soul I have attempted to do just that; in fact, I have done more. I have tried to tell substantially what I did do and what I still do, whenever I have the opportunity to direct the instruction of lit tle children. If it sometimes seems blind to you, or halting in meaning, you will under stand that this arises from the necessary limi tations of the case. We do many things With out knowing that We are doing them, and con vey a great deal by our attitudes and our in clinations, either for or against, any given sub ject. This of course cannot be conveyed in a book nor is it desirable that it should be. But in so far as I am able to tell what I have ao tually done with little children, this book tells the story. I have tried not to preach and when I seem to be preaching, you will under stand that I am merely making a zealous ef fort to make you feel as I feel myself.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book will equip parents who prioritize mental development for their children in the formative years, when their little ones absorb knowledge most readily. The author urges parents to recognize their children's potential for learning and to capitalize on it. The book suggests against comparing one's child against the broader crowd of their peers. Instead, parents should focus on shaping them into the best version of themselves, recognizing the unique genius within their child. By fostering a positive relationship between teaching parent and child that is anchored in respect and validation, the child will internalize a strong belief in their own abilities. The author shares anecdotes, personal and historical, of great minds who succeeded due to the high expectations and belief instilled in them from a young age. This book is an invaluable resource for parents who believe in 'teaching in the home,' highlighting how to cultivate and leverage parental belief in a child's potential to foster a lifetime love of learning and a growth mindset.
