Excerpt from Old Testament Revision: A Handbook for English Readers
Should my little book fall into the hands of any Biblical scholars, I would respectfully solicit their attention to the argument in behalf of the habitual use of the Greek language by Christ, as set forth in Chapter IX. My apology for taking another opportunity of handling this subject is simply that I believe it to be one of the most interesting and im portant of Biblical questions. Indeed, should the view for which I plead as to the language generally used by Christ be at last accepted,a revolution must, to a considerable extent, take place in the science of Biblical criticism. To prevent all possible misunderstanding, it may be well to add that, though the sheets of the Revised Old Testament have, from time to time, been sent to me, I am not, now that my book has been printed, acquainted with a single change of rendering which the Revisers have adopted.
