Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a historically informed examination of the invocation of saints, an important practice within the Roman Catholic Church. The author presents evidence of this practice across the history of Christianity, from the earliest centuries through to the present, arguing that it is both licit and utilitarian to petition the saints to intercede with God on our behalf in prayer. The book is grounded in the writings of Christian leaders from across the ages and demonstrates how the invocation of saints developed from the belief that the saints are conscious and capable of prayer. The author also discusses the broader subject of the veneration of saints within Christianity, and the views of those who do not believe in the practice of invocation.
