Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the principles of rhythm and meter underlying poetry and music. It presents these ideas in relation to the Greek and Latin languages, explaining their use of vowel articulation, quantity, accentuation, intonation, and pausing within the broader historical context of linguistics. The author, a leading expert in classical philology, argues that correct vowel articulation, as well as accurate quantity, intonation, and accentuation, are essential to fully understanding the rhythmic and metric forms of classical languages. Greater understanding of these elements unlocks the musicality and artistic complexity of these languages, providing a deeper appreciation of the works written in them.
