Excerpt from The Entomologist's Useful Compendium; Or an Introduction to the Knowledge of British Insects: Comprising the Best Means of Obtaining and Preserving Them, and a Description of the Apparatus Generally Used
The utility of the Calendar must be obvious to every one, as containing extensive and substantial information such as the Tyro will require. Those who reside at a distance from the metropolis have a great advantage, as by carefully examin ing such places as are referred to in the Calendar they may not only meet with the species enumerated, but are likely to capture new insects, at least undescribed, for as yet very little is known of the Entomology of Britain.
