Excerpt from Manual of Human Histology, Vol. 1
Medicine has reached a point, at which Microscopical Anatomy appears to constitute its foundation, quite as much as the Anatomy of the Organs and Systems and when a profound study of Physiology and Pathological Anatomy is impossible, without an accurate acquaintance also, with the most minute structural conditions. It seems, therefore, to be the task of the cultivators of this branch of science, to communicate the results of their researches, not only to their fellow inquirers, and to those who have, in other ways, gone more deeply into medical science, but to all who are devoted to the study of Man in general, and especially to render them easily available by students and practitioners. The attainment of this object is sought, in the present work, by giving a View, as condensed as possible, of the relations of the elementary parts of the body, and of the more intimate structure of the organs. In the execution of this plan, with the exception of some important, but still doubtful questions, all polemical disquisition is avoided, and the History of the Science.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an exhaustive study of the elementary parts of human tissue. Authored by renowned anatomist and physiologist Albert KÃ lliker in 1852, it is regarded as a classic work that laid the groundwork for understanding the microscopic composition of living organisms. The text begins with a comprehensive overview of the history of histology, providing context for the author's own groundbreaking research. KÃ lliker's central thesis is that all animal tissues are composed of cells or their derivatives. He meticulously describes the structure, development, and function of these cells, including their membranes, nuclei, and nucleoli. The author also delves into the formation of higher-level tissues from these cells, examining their organization and the role they play in the body's organs and systems. This seminal work not only advanced our understanding of human anatomy but also laid the foundation for modern cell biology. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
