Nearly one-half of the present edition is devoted to new problems and special articles that have appeared recently in columns of that journal, giving the work a materially estended usefulness. A rear rangement of the subject matter has resulted in the removal of all that was obsolete or treated of practice no longer followed, and the space is given to articles on the latest and best methods. The old problems have been reclassified with new matter under each head, and new subjects have been given space, all arranged with a view to convenience for reference. The intent of the work is to furnish a fund of valuable information on a varietv of practical subjects rather than a systematic treatment of plumbing and drainage.
