Excerpt from Context Interchange: Representing and Reasoning About Data Semantics in Heterogeneous Systems
We have two (intertwined) objectives in this paper. First, we aim to provide a formal foundation for the Context Interchange strategy that will not only rectify the problems described earlier, but also provide for an integration of the underlying representational and reasoning formalisms. Second, the deconstruction and subsequent reconstruction1 of the Context Interchange approach described in [48; 44] provides us with the opportunity to address the concern for integration strategies that are scalable, extensible and accessible.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book combines insights gathered from database and information systems to form a strategy for the integration of data from heterogeneous databases and applications. The author argues that accessing data from disparate data sources through different applications has become essential in the present day's technological landscape, but current approaches to data integration are inadequate for our needs, requiring significant manual intervention and limiting scalability and extensibility. To circumvent these issues, this book proposes a framework that allows data semantics to be captured without the need for manual reconciliation, paving the way for a more intelligent and seamless approach to data integration. Its examination of the relationship between data models, query languages, and deduction provides a valuable new perspective on this subject.
