Excerpt from Heat and Light
A book which has grown out of the notes in general use in a laboratory is necessarily a composite production. I have specially to thank Mr Wilberforce and Mr Fitzpatrick for their help in arranging many of the experiments. Mr Fitzpatrick has also given me very valuable assistance by reading the proofs and suggesting numerous improvements. The illus trations have for the most part been drawn fiom the apparatus used in the class by Mr Hayles, the Lecture Room Assistant, and Mr E. Wilson.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book deconstructs the mysteries of the universe by exploring everything from energy to the speed of light through experiments that can be performed by any reader with the correct tools and materials. The author starts by explaining the basics of physics and thermodynamics, including the nature of heat and how it can be transformed. Readers will then move on to examining various concepts, such as conduction, convection, and radiation, and how heat is connected to energyâ"all the while performing engaging, hands-on experiments. Taking these concepts a step further, the book also covers topics including the expansion of solids, liquids, and gases, the change of state of various substances, and even the behavior of objects at absolute zero. This deeper dive provides readers with a fuller understanding of the foundational principles of physics, complementing the practical experiments performed earlier in the book. By the end, this book will give readers not only a solid grasp of thermodynamics and physics, but also the confidence to explore more advanced concepts on their own. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
