Excerpt from Lecture Notes on Qualitative Analysis
Although the advantages to be gained by teaching qualitative analysis by lecture are sufficiently obvious, it is a serious disadvantage to the student that the necessity of taking proper notes often pre vents him from seeing what takes place upon the lecture table. This little book was intended to give concisely the most important facts essential to intelligent work in the laboratory, and thus give the stu dent more leisure for observation in the lecture room.
A comparative description of those compounds of bases and acids which are commonly found or used in analysis is first given, and after wards a method of separation which experience has proved to be suf ficiently simple and accurate, is briefly explained. This method of procedure from the properties. Of compounds to the methods of sepa ration will also serve to show the way in which the more difficult problems of analysis must be solved.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is an invaluable resource to those looking to master qualitative analysis, a branch of chemistry concerned with the identification of elements or their compounds. It provides a thorough examination of the reactions of known substances, helping you develop your observational skills and the ability to interpret reactions. The author explains the properties of bases, and how to separate them into distinct groups based on their reactions, such as precipitation or solubilities. Through a series of well-structured experiments and detailed descriptions of chemical reactions, the book covers the qualitative analysis of various bases, preparing you to make complete analyses of complex mixtures and insoluble substances. Finally, the book provides a comprehensive examination of the preliminary examination, a series of tests used to gather information about the identity of a substance before further analysis. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
