This fourth volume of St. Augustin's Works contains his polemical writings in vindica tion of the Catholic Church against the heresy of the Manichaeans, and the schism of the Donatists. The former are contained in Tom. II. And VIII., the latter in Tom. IX., of the Benedictine edition.

Like the preceding volumes, this also is more than a reprint of older translations, and contains important additions not previously published.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an anthology of the polemical writings of Saint Augustine, one of the most influential Christian theologians, against the Manichaean heresy and the Donatist schism. Manichaeism was a gnostic religion founded in the 3rd century that believed in the existence of two opposing principles, good and evil. Donatism was a schismatic movement within the early Christian church that rejected the authority of the Roman bishop and emphasized the importance of a pure and holy church. The author's writings provide a valuable insight into the beliefs, practices, and controversies surrounding these two movements, offering a historical and theological analysis of their impact on the development of early Christianity. Through his rigorous examination and refutations, Augustine sought to defend the orthodox Christian faith, shaping the course of Christian doctrine and practice in the centuries that followed. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Codice articolo 9781332590537_0
