Excerpt from Logarithmic Tables: Containing Logarithms to Numbers From 1 to 120, 000, Numbers to Logarithms From .0 to 1. 00000, to Seven Places of Decimals; Tables With Centesimal and Decimal Arguments for Finding Logarithms and Antilogarithms as Far as Sixteen and Twenty-Five Places

The general properties of logarithms are, that the logarithm of the product of two numbers is equal to the sum of the logarithms of the two numbers; and that the logarithm of the quotient of two numbers is equal to the logarithm of the dividend minus the logarithm of the divisor.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an in-depth examination of logarithms, numerical functions crucial in mathematical calculations, from their discovery to evolving applications. The author traces their origins through the work of Napier, Briggs, and other notable mathematicians. Central to the discussion are the varied formulae that define logarithms and enable their calculation, including methods of differences, antilogarithms, and properties of common logarithms. The book's thematic depth shines in its exploration of the connection between logarithms and antilogarithms, highlighting the significance of the common logarithmic system. By exploring the properties and applications of logarithms in different contexts, the author aims to enhance our understanding of their fundamental role in mathematics and science. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
