Sinossi

Excerpt from Review of the Serpent Uncoiled, or of the Full Length Portrait of Universalism

The following pages are a Rmrw of a book which is small in compass, but, like most of kindred productions, it is great in pretentious, sophistry, and absurdities. Its great ness cannot be better illustrated that by the expression of an' old lady when complaining of her health:. Oh i said she, I am powerful weak.

Such a blustering display of high pretentious as we find in the commencement of the Serpent Uncoiled; would ih duce one, who should put confidence in it to believe that the author had completely exploded the whole universal system. It was published by the tract society at Philadel phia, and duly revised and prepared for the press by the committee of publication; and in order that the ruin of Universalism might be complete, the editor has added his notes to this standard work, against Universalism But this Review is designed to show that this doctrine is not yet completely uud up by our anonymous author, although he is declaired to be thoroughly acquainted with the argu ments of its defenders, and that he has met and refuted, them all. It will be seen however, that this author was not_ inspired by truth alone, when he wrote his serpentine work, which evidently was not designed to pass through the hands of any other reviewer than of the committee. And of the prejudiced and superficial reader; ignorance and prejudice being two powerful patrons of all adcapandum guitars.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the theological debate surrounding Universalism, the belief that all people will ultimately be saved. The author, a self-proclaimed expert on Universalism, contends that it is incompatible with the Christian doctrines of sin and God's justice. Through historical analysis and scriptural interpretation, the author argues that endless punishment is the only just consequence for those who reject God's grace. The book also examines the ethical implications of Universalism, suggesting that it undermines personal responsibility and the motivation for good works. Ultimately, this book presents a rigorous challenge to Universalism, offering a comprehensive defense of the traditional Christian doctrine of eternal punishment.
