Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the history of Huntington, Long Island, through the lens of its earliest cemetery. The text meticulously documents the lives and deaths of the town's founding families, offering a unique glimpse into the social and cultural fabric of early America. The author painstakingly recounts the inscription on a bronze tablet, detailing the cemetery's establishment in the 1700s and its role as the site of Fort Golgotha, a British military outpost during the Revolutionary War. Beyond the historical significance, the book explores themes of mortality, faith, and community through the intimate details of individual lives, from prominent figures like Silas Wood, author of the first Huntington history, to ordinary families who built their lives in this burgeoning community. The rich tapestry of names, dates, and details serves as a poignant testament to the enduring power of place and the enduring legacy of those who came before.
