Sinossi

This book, the first two parts of which are offered here, contains monographs of species of Urocoptidce, a group of land snails found in the West Indies and Central America. The majority of the species described are from Jamaica and Haiti, though there are also species from Cuba, Mexico, and Guatemala. The author, Henry Augustus Pilsbry, was an American malacologist and zoologist who, along with his collaborators, wrote extensively on mollusks from the Caribbean. This work makes available the author's research on these snails, originally published between 1891 and 1902, in a single volume for the first time. It also contains a general discussion of the affinities and distribution of the family, an index, and several plates of illustrative figures. This book will be of interest to malacologists, zoologists, and other scholars and students of natural history.
