Excerpt from Pyrometers and Pyrometry: A General Discussion
It was with great disappointment that I could not be present at this interesting and important Symposium, but I have pleasure in sending a bibliography on pyrometers-(see pp. 160 - 170) which I have had prepared, and I hope it may be of service. Whilst not necessarily containing all records, this has been made as complete as possible. It also includes references since 'about 1889 to pamphlets, papers, and cuttings on this subject, including the title of the paper, author's name, and where published, also British and foreign patents.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating world of pyrometers and pyrometry, exploring the history, science, and practical applications of these crucial tools for measuring high temperatures. The author takes readers on a journey through the development of pyrometry, highlighting the early days of the National Physical Laboratory and the contributions of pioneers like Sir Andrew Noble and Professor Henri Le Chatelier. The book examines the importance of pyrometers in various industrial processes, particularly in metallurgy, and explores the challenges and limitations of early pyrometer technology. The author also delves into the concept of a 'thermodynamic' scale of temperature, a concept crucial to understanding the accuracy and reliability of pyrometer measurements. The book examines the standardization of pyrometers and discusses the methods used to calibrate these instruments to ensure consistency and accuracy. A compelling exploration of the evolution of pyrometers and the impact they've had on industry, this book provides valuable insights into the vital role of temperature measurement in scientific and industrial endeavors.
