Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. A detailed historical analysis of the role played by the Scottish border stronghold of Kylosbern from the 12th century up until the present day. The book utilises previously unpublished charter evidence to show how this strategically-placed castle acted as a flashpoint in the Anglo-Scottish wars and played a vital role in the development of the Stewart dynasty. Kylosbernâs history is traced through its changing roles as a royal castle, a stronghold of the infamous âRedâ Comyn family, a possession of the powerful Douglas family, and finally as a ruin in the care of the state. Through this, the author sheds new light on some of the most important and dramatic chapters in Scottish history.
