Excerpt from Classification and Terminology of the Cambrian Brachiopoda: With Two Plates
We do not know of any brachiopoda in strata older than that con taining the Olenellus or Lower Cambrian fauna. That such existed in pre-cambrian time seems almost certain when the advanced stage of development of some of the earliest known forms is considered.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book focuses on the study of Cambrian Brachiopoda, fossils of brachiopods, a type of marine invertebrate, largely from the Lower Cambrian period. The majority of brachiopods from this period possessed corneous or chitinous shells, though calcareous shells also existed. The author has conducted a detailed analysis of the microscopic shell structure of these fossils and found that the structure of Cambrian brachiopods is distinct from later brachiopods despite some similarities in appearance. The book contains several illustrations and diagrams that help to explain the discussed concepts. It also includes a terminology section that defines the various terms used in the study of brachiopods, which will be useful for both new and experienced readers. The author has organized the book with a schematic diagram of the evolution and a scheme of classification to provide a context for the discussed concepts. The book will provide new insights to paleontologists, geologists, and other researchers working with brachiopods and Cambrian fossils. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
