Le microphone et le phonographe faisaient, dans l'origine, partie de notre ouvrage sur le Téléphone; mais les découvertes se sont tellement multipliées dans ces der nières années, surtout en téléphonie, que nous avons dû consacrer un volume entier au téléphone et à ses appli cations, et comme d'un autre côté la science électro acoustique s'est enrichie depuis peu d'une branche nou velle extrêmement intéressante, la radiophonie, nous avons pensé que le microphone, le radiophone et le pho nographe, pourraient à eux seuls remplir un volume. C'est ainsi que notre premier ouvrage s'est trouvé dé doublé. Il y avait d'ailleurs d'autres découvertes qui se rattachaient plus ou moins à ces divers instruments et qui pouvaient encore compléter le volume. C'était d'abord la machine parlante américaine, et en second lieu le télé photo ou téle troscope, au moyen duquel les images.
